Developed and introduced by Different Tastes Catering of Boston fourteen years ago, the Edible Asian Spoon began as a local trend but, over the years, it has become a mainstay for many caterers throughout North America and, now, internationally! It has changed the face of the industry.
It was created out of a need to make it easier on our client. In the past, caterers would offer a porcelain or plastic Asian spoon with an hors d’oeuvres atop it for their guest’s enjoyment. The edible Asian spoon’s creator, Jack Milan, always saw this as an inconvenience for the guest. In one hand, the guest held their beverage glass; In another, the Asian spoon. Guests had to wait for a server to come around in order to dispose of the spoon. It is because of these circumstances that the Edible Asian Spoon was born.
In 2003, it was recognized by the International Caterers Association as ‘Trend In The Industry’ and was awarded the first ever prestigious CATIE (Catered Arts Through Innovative Excellence) award.
In 2011, the edible Asian spoon creator, Jack Milan, was named by the Food Channel at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago IL ‘One of the top ten trend setters in the industry.‘
In August, 2012, Edibles By Jack was names ‘Best In Show – The People’s Choice Award’ at the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo in Anaheim CA.
In September, 2003, Edibles By Jack was names ‘Best In Show – The People’s Choice Award’ at the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show in Orlando, FL.
